2022 UTokyo 3MT – Keiichi Kimura – Greening with the tough microbes

"I have an interest in global environmental problems that should be solved. My interest has led me to the Landscape Ecology & Planning Lab, The University of Tokyo. I often enjoy scuba-diving, but my research focuses on land restoration in desertificated lands. The current research topic is to introduce microorganisms in desertificated lands as a greening method. Field surveys were the primary methods for my studies before the coronavirus pandemic. Now, I have mainly conducted laboratory experiments for my research.
I completed “The University of Tokyo Future Faculty Program” (UTokyo FFP) to develop my communication skills, especially with non-specialists. Fortunately, I had the opportunity to lecture on what my research interests are.
