FULL: White House press briefing with Karoline Leavitt on UK trade deal, tariffs, Gulf of Arabia

White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt spoke to members of the media.

Leavitt was asked about President Donald Trump's upcoming trip to the Middle East, his desire to rename the Persian Gulf, the UK trade deal, air traffic control issues at Newark Airport, and more.

"Why did the White House announce the trade deal with UK before all of the details were finished?" A reporter asked Leavitt.

"That's not true actually," Leavitt responded. "I saw the fact sheet, I saw the deal as well before the president brought all of you in the Oval Office in the effort of transparency."

Leavitt was also asked about President Trump's planned visit to Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Qatar in the coming days.

"Let me just get to the premise of your question that both of you have raised," Leavitt said when asked about Trump's upcoming trip. "I think it's frankly ridiculous that anyone in this room would even suggest that President Trump is doing anything for his own benefit. He left a life of luxury and a life of running a very successful real estate empire for public service not just once but twice. The American public reelected him back to this White House because they trust he acts in the best interest of our country and putting the American public first."

Leavitt was also asked about the acting administrator of FEMA being fired one day after after telling lawmakers that cutting FEMA is a bad move. Cameron Hamilton, who previously served as a hospital corpsman in the U.S. Navy with SEAL Team 8, has led FEMA since January.

"It's a federal agency within which branch? It's the Executive Branch. Who's the head of the executive branch? The President of the United States," Leavitt said. "He has the right to fire people within the executive branch, it's a pretty simple answer."
