This is a video series that explains the works on display at the popular special exhibition "Western Paintings, Where Should We Look? - From #Renaissance to #Impressionism #SanDiegoMuseumofArt vs #NationalMuseumofWesternArt." Following on from the first part, this second part of the video explains masterpieces of European paintings from France, Italy, and Spain that were created in Europe from the 17th to 20th centuries and are currently housed at the National Museum of Western Art in Tokyo and the San Diego Museum of Art in the United States. Specifically, the video introduces this well-constructed exhibition in detail, where visitors can appreciate a wide variety of works, from Juan Sánchez Cotán's still lifes of fruits and vegetables, to Hubert Robert's fantastical Roman landscapes, to Marie-Guilhermine Benoist's paintings of women in fashionable costumes, to bold portraits by 20th century Spanish painter Sorolla, while comparing them with works created around the same time and featuring similar themes but painted in different styles and touches.
#DokoMiruExhibition will be held at the National Museum of Western Art in Tokyo from March 11 to June 8, and at the #KyoceraMuseum of Art in Kyoto from June 25 to October 13.
